Our Story

Cavendish Cooks is an award winning food company, making really delicious meals frozen for your convenience. In a busy world we're all about helping you find more time for yourself, your family or your partner whilst sharing something you absolutely love to eat.

We were founded in 2011 on a love of great ingredients and proper home-cooking. Now, four years later, there are new owners behind the Cooks – but the foundation, the passion and the enthusiasm are just the same. Partners Sue & John are mixing the core menu of classic comfort food with delicious new dishes inspired by cuisine from all over the world, with a healthy twist – low on sugar, salt and fat – but with the same commitment to great flavour.

Sue grew up always looking forward to the next delicious meal time. Her family ran one of the first whole food restaurants in the country, a truly ground-breaking concept at the time. She has been seriously in love with food for as long as she can remember and has a passion for creating food that is both indulgent and healthy, and always tastes mouth watering. John comes from an extended family of greengrocers, butchers and fishmongers in the East End of London, so he really knows his ingredients. But neither of them had actually worked directly in the food industry until one Christmas when they discovered the old Cavendish Cooks premises tucked away behind the Royal Crescent on St James’ Street. Sue & John both loved the idea of the business, bringing proper home-cooked dishes to people in a hurry, and couldn’t resist going back for more fabulous food. They couldn’t believe it when they saw that the business was up for sale just a short while later.

It was one of those ideas that just wouldn't go away, and after a bit of thought they decided it was worth taking a leap into the unknown. Having both pursued successful careers elsewhere, working for other people, it was time to do something creative for themselves. Now they’re determined to develop the business, with bigger premises and an expanded team, and see where it might take them. Expect gorgeously indulgent dishes such as their Lamb Tagine or Triple Mushroom Lasagne, and family favourites from Indulgent Fish Pie to Coq au Vin, and a regularly changing range of limited edition specials, as well as scrumptious side dishes and desserts – and all of them with a healthy twist you’d never even guess was there. How can you possibly resist?
